Here is something most people don't know.

The reason we call someone a "guinea pig" — meaning a test subject, an experiment, someone being used without consent — is because guinea pigs literally were the original laboratory animals. From the 17th century onward, they were so commonly used in scientific experiments that their name became the universal phrase for any creature subjected to testing without a say in the matter.

They helped discover tuberculosis. They identified yellow fever immunity. They were used to isolate Vitamin C. Their bodies quite literally built the foundation of modern medicine.

They never got a say.

Now beagles carry that same burden. Bred specifically for their gentle, trusting nature — the very qualities that make them extraordinary companions — they are the guinea pigs of the modern laboratory. Tattooed with numbers, housed in cages, sold between facilities, and discarded when no longer useful.

In this design, a beagle in a medical-print dress and red Converse holds a sign that says "I Am Not Your Guinea Pig." Standing beside her, an actual guinea pig in a striped shirt holds his own sign: "Not Me Either."

Four hundred years of history. Two animals. One message.

The dress says everything else — covered in bandages, syringes, pill bottles and stethoscopes, it is the wardrobe of a creature who has been poked, prodded and tested on for generations. She is wearing their entire history and she is furious about it. Rightly so.

We now have organs on a chip, organoids, and AI-driven research tools that can replace animal experiments entirely. The science has moved on. The labs haven't.
